Acknowledgement to country
We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Traditional Custodians of the land and we acknowledge indigenous healing practices. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
We acknowledge Māori as the indigenous inhabitants of Aotearoa and recognise Te Tiriti o Waitangi [The Treaty of Waitangi] as the foundational document of Aotearoa/New Zealand representing an enduring physical, psychological and spiritual partnership with tangata whenua [people of the land].
Ko te maumahara kore ki ngā whakapapa o ōu mātua tīpuna, e rite ana ki te pūkaki awa kāore ōna hikuawa, ki te rākau rānei, kāore ōna pakiaka.
Te Wharehuia Milroy (cited by Dr Hinemoa Elder in Aroha)
Forgetting the genealogy of your ancestors is like a river that has no source or a tree without roots.
